Papagena, inspired by the character from Mozart’s opera, “The Magic Flute”, features a feathery lace motif, and unusual construction method. It begins at the center back, with a circular cast on, and is knit in the round, forming the central square. One side of the square is then worked to the full length. After completing the 1st side, a garter stitch edging is attached along the top and bottom of the central square, then these edges are joined with the 4th side of the square, which is worked to match the first side. Directions are given for adjusting the length. Pattern is charted only, there are no line by line directions.
